Popular Nigerian social media personality and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Abuja.
The arrest follows his public criticism of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over alleged unauthorized transactions from his mother’s account.
VDM’s lawyer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest to The Guardian on Friday, stating that the police apprehended VDM at Area 3 in Abuja.
Adeyanju condemned the arrest, saying, “VDM was arrested by the police at GTB after speaking to them. This is absolutely unacceptable. Demanding accountability should never be a crime.”
According to Adeyanju, VDM was detained along with his friend, C Park, though his mother was not taken into custody.
