The Oyo State Government has commenced the disbursement of bursary awards to indigent students from the state pursuing degrees in Law, Medicine, and Aviation.
This announcement was made in a statement on Saturday in Ibadan by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Olanrewaju explained that the bursary payments also extend to final-year students of Oyo State origin enrolled in universities and polytechnics across Nigeria.
“Approximately 2,950 beneficiaries have been selected from a pool of about 3,000 applicants who met the required criteria,” Olanrewaju said. “Among the beneficiaries, around 105 are students studying Medicine and Clinical fields, while four are pursuing degrees in Maritime and Aviation. The remaining beneficiaries are final-year students in various polytechnics and universities.”
He also revealed that the governor had approved a total of N554.9 million for the bursary awards.
