Nigerian Air Force airstrikes mistakenly hit vigilantes, kill 20

A Nigerian Air Force airstrike on Saturday mistakenly targeted operatives of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guard (ZSCPG) vigilantes and residents of the Tungar Kara community in Maradun Local Government Area, Zamfara State, following a raid by bandits in the area.

The Telegraph gathered that the tragic incident, which claimed at least 20 lives, occurred shortly after the bandits had fled the scene. Local vigilantes and residents, who had mobilized to defend their community, were caught in the strike.

As of now, 16 bodies have been recovered, though the final death toll remains uncertain as rescue efforts continue. The airstrike, intended to target the fleeing bandits, instead devastated the community, leaving a trail of grief and raising serious questions about the targeting of the attack.
