The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has confirmed that its website has been hacked.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night, the Bureau informed the public about the breach, stating that it was working diligently to restore the site, which hosts critical statistical data across various sectors of the country.
The NBS message read: “This is to inform the public that the NBS Website has been hacked, and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any messages or reports posted until the website is fully restored. Thank you.”
As of Thursday morning, efforts to access the NBS website www.nigerianstat.gov.ng were unsuccessful, with a message displaying that “the site can’t be reached.” It appears the recovery process is still ongoing.
