Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has declared Friday, November 6, 2026, a work-free day to enable residents, particularly civil servants, to participate in the reception of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his visit to the state.
Eno announced the decision after inspecting projects scheduled for commissioning by the president, describing the visit as timely and significant to the state’s development.
The projects expected to be commissioned include the International Terminal Building at Victor Attah International Airport, Aviation Village, Airport Hospital, ARISE Palm Resort, the 14.5-kilometre Nsit Atai–Okobo Road, Ring Road 3 Extension and the Security and Command Centre.
Speaking with Government House correspondents after the inspection tour, the governor said the presidential visit would provide an opportunity to showcase key infrastructure projects executed by his administration.
He also disclosed that a rally would be organised during the visit in support of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Eno commended Tinubu for making resources available to state governments, noting that the support had contributed to the execution of development projects in Akwa Ibom.
The governor urged residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome the president and demonstrate the state’s renowned tradition of hospitality.
He said the declaration of a work-free day was intended to give civil servants and other residents the opportunity to participate in the reception.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, and the distinguished Senate President, our leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, we urge all Akwa Ibomites to come out en masse to give the President an overwhelming reception,” he said.
