The Peoples Democratic Party faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed has released its timetable and fees for the 2027 general elections, setting out steep nomination costs for major offices.
According to the schedule announced on Wednesday by National Organising Secretary Umar Bature, the party fixed the combined cost of presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at ₦51 million, while governorship aspirants will pay ₦21 million.
The party said the sale of forms will commence on April 27, 2026, and close on May 4, with May 9 set as the deadline for submission of completed applications.
Under the breakdown, all aspirants are required to pay ₦1 million for expression of interest forms. Nomination fees are set at ₦2 million for State House of Assembly aspirants, ₦3 million for House of Representatives, ₦5 million for Senate, ₦20 million for governorship, and ₦50 million for presidential hopefuls.
Screening for State Assembly, National Assembly, and governorship aspirants will hold on May 11, while presidential screening is scheduled for May 12. The presidential primary is fixed for May 18, followed by governorship primaries on May 27. House of Representatives primaries will hold on May 21, Senate primaries on May 23, and State Assembly primaries between May 21 and May 24. All appeals arising from the primaries are expected to be concluded by May 30, 2026.
The party also stated that female aspirants will only pay the expression of interest fee for their respective offices.
The announcement comes amid an escalating leadership crisis within the PDP, which has effectively split the party into two rival factions. One is led by Tanimu Turaki and backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, while the opposing faction is led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and supported by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Several legal disputes arising from the crisis are currently before the courts, with the Supreme Court indicating on Wednesday that judgment will be delivered on a date to be communicated to the parties.
