Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged investors who relocated from the state, as well as prospective investors, to return and take advantage of the investment opportunities created by his administration.
Otti made the call on Sunday while commissioning a hospitality facility built by an investor in Aba. He said his administration had, over the past three years, focused on improving infrastructure and creating a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
According to the governor, ongoing infrastructural projects and reforms in the business environment have opened up new opportunities for investment across the state.
He said the transformation taking place across Abia, particularly in Aba, was the result of deliberate efforts to address longstanding infrastructure deficits and improve the environment for economic activity.
Otti recalled the condition of Port Harcourt Road in Aba before his administration assumed office, noting that the government had cleared obstructions and debris and rehabilitated the road as part of broader efforts to improve connectivity and unlock economic activity in the city.
He said the government’s ongoing infrastructure drive across the state would further create opportunities for individuals and businesses seeking to invest in Abia.
The governor therefore called on investors and residents who had previously left Aba to return and take advantage of the opportunities emerging from the city’s transformation.
“Time is ripe for investment in Abia,” Otti said, urging those who had delayed their investment decisions to act before available opportunities were taken up by others.
He assured prospective investors that his administration would continue to provide the infrastructure and enabling environment needed to support businesses and attract investment.
Speaking at the commissioning of the ORIS Signature Hotel in Aba, Otti commended the investor and Chief Executive Officer of the facility, Owelle Greg Okafor, for investing in the city.
He said the project would create jobs, contribute to economic growth and improve the state’s internally generated revenue.
“This is going to add to the employment of Abia people, which is the number one priority for us,” Otti said.
He added that the investment would also contribute to the state’s Gross Domestic Product, reduce poverty, increase internally generated revenue and provide improved accommodation for visitors to the city.
