The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, wanted over an alleged case of receiving stolen property.
The EFCC disclosed this in a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, and published on its official X account on Wednesday.
“The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties,” the notice stated.
The commission urged anyone with information about Maina’s whereabouts to contact its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja.
“Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu in Borno State. Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: info@efcc.gov.ng or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” the commission added.
Maina was extradited to Nigeria from Niger in 2020 to face trial on alleged money laundering charges.
He had been arrested in Niamey, the Nigerien capital, after reportedly jumping bail and subsequently being declared wanted by an Abuja High Court.
Maina was standing trial over alleged money laundering involving about ₦2 billion when he was extradited to Nigeria in 2020.
