The male housemates of the ongoing Big Brother Naija Season 11 have won the first Thursday wager task of the season after defeating their female counterparts in a debate competition.
The task, held on Thursday, focused on the classic “Nature versus Nurture” debate, with both teams presenting arguments to defend their positions.
The female housemates argued in favour of nurture, stating that an individual’s character, behaviour and achievements are largely influenced by upbringing, environment and life experiences.
The male housemates, however, defended the nature perspective, arguing that inherited traits and biological factors play a more significant role in shaping individuals.
After assessing both presentations, Big Brother declared the male housemates winners of the debate, awarding them the first Thursday wager task victory of the season.
Announcing the result, Big Brother said, “Housemates, the winners of tonight’s wager are the gentlemen.”
The victory comes days after Big Brother introduced a new twist to the reality show by dividing contestants into male and female teams for selected tasks and competitions.
Announcing the format change on Sunday, Big Brother said, “The house would be split into two groups, the ladies and the guys, with key house challenges to be contested along those lines.”
Under the new arrangement, wager tasks, arena games and other competitions will be contested between the two teams, requiring housemates to work together to secure victories and rewards.
The format change is expected to alter the dynamics of the house as contestants balance teamwork, individual strategies, rivalries and alliances throughout the competition.
