President Bola Tinubu has secured the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election following a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide direct presidential primary held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Tinubu was officially declared winner of the primary on Sunday after the exercise was conducted across the country’s 8,809 wards in all 774 local government areas.

The President’s only challenger in the contest was APC chieftain and businessman, Stanley Osifo from Edo State.

Announcing the result at the collation centre located at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, Chairman of the APC Presidential Primaries Election Committee, Pius Anyim, said Tinubu overwhelmingly defeated his opponent in the exercise.

“I am also to confirm that there were two aspirants in the APC 2026 presidential primary election, namely the incumbent president, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Mr. Stanley Osifo,” Anyim stated.

“Mr. President, the election has been collated, the results computed, and I can say on behalf of the committee that the following are the records of the election.

“Across the country, a total of 12,643,306 registered voters were registered in our party,” he added.

According to him, 11,069,756 party members were accredited for the exercise, while 11,015,665 votes were cast.

Anyim disclosed that Tinubu polled 10,999,162 votes, while Osifo secured 16,503 votes.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is therefore my duty as the returning officer for this primary election to declare President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, as the winner of the presidential primary election and duly returned as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election,” he said.

Following the declaration, Tinubu received the APC flag and his certificate of return from the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
