Tinubu secures 131,096 votes in APC presidential primary in Edo

President Bola Tinubu polled 131,096 votes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary conducted across the 192 wards of Edo State on Saturday.

Governor Monday Okpebholo, who served as the returning officer for the exercise, announced the results at the APC Secretariat on Ikpoba Hill, GRA, Benin City, describing the election as peaceful and orderly across the state.

According to Okpebholo, Tinubu overwhelmingly defeated his challenger, Stanley Osifo, who secured only one vote across all wards in the state.

“The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I also participated by voting in my ward, and the collated results from all 192 wards show that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes, while Osifo scored one vote,” the governor said.

Collation officers from the 18 local government areas presented the results at the party secretariat following the conclusion of the exercise, which was held simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation.

In Edo South Senatorial District, Tinubu recorded dominant victories across all local government areas. He polled 9,177 votes in Oredo, 13,147 in Ikpoba-Okha, and 10,074 in Egor, while Osifo failed to secure any vote in the councils.

Tinubu also secured 6,858 votes in Orhionmwon, 10,044 in Ovia South-West, 7,983 in Ovia North-East, and 6,159 in Uhunmwonde. Osifo’s only vote in the state came from Ovia North-East Local Government Area.

In Edo North Senatorial District, Tinubu polled 4,564 votes in Etsako Central, 7,123 in Etsako East, 5,492 in Owan East, 4,139 in Owan West, 7,464 in Akoko-Edo, and 11,497 in Etsako West, while Osifo recorded no votes in the district.

Similarly, in Edo Central Senatorial District, Tinubu secured 5,441 votes in Esan South-East, 4,111 in Esan North-East, 5,467 in Igueben, 6,820 in Esan West, and 5,536 in Esan Central, with Osifo again failing to record any vote.
