Mudashiru Obasa has emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa, who currently serves as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, secured the APC ticket unopposed during the party’s primary election held across the 13 political wards in the constituency on Saturday.
Delegates and party members unanimously endorsed his candidacy following his formal declaration of interest at a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege on May 13.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Obasa expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and residents of Agege for what he described as the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in him.
“I am sincerely grateful to our party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and the good people of Agege for the overwhelming support and confidence shown in yesterday’s APC House of Representatives primary election,” he said.
“Your massive support and the outcome of the primary are clear demonstrations of your belief in our shared vision for better representation, sustained development and stronger grassroots leadership for Agege.”
Obasa said he accepted the mandate with humility and pledged continued commitment to serving the people of the constituency.
If elected to the National Assembly, he said he would focus on attracting greater federal presence to Agege, expanding youth empowerment opportunities, and improving infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
“At the National Assembly, I will continue to champion the interests of Agege by pushing for more federal presence, youth empowerment opportunities, improved infrastructure, quality education, better healthcare delivery and economic initiatives that will directly impact our people,” he stated.
He also promised to maintain close engagement with constituents and ensure that their concerns are adequately represented in Abuja.
Describing the outcome of the primary as a collective victory, Obasa said the mandate belonged to “every loyal party member, every supporter and every resident who believes in continuity, progress and purposeful representation.”
Obasa, who has served as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for more than a decade, is regarded as one of the most influential political figures in Lagos State politics.
The APC House of Representatives primaries began nationwide on Saturday following a late adjustment to the party’s timetable by its National Working Committee as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
