President Bola Tinubu has dismissed opposition criticism, describing his critics as “noise-makers” who disregard the rule of law and insisting he remains focused on governance.

He made the remarks on Thursday at the State House in Abuja during a meeting with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors drawn from all 36 states. The delegation was led by Hope Uzodimma, who serves as Director-General of the group.

“They want to scare me off? That is not possible. I have been through this path before,” the President said, reaffirming his resolve. “One thing you can count on is this: I will not walk away from the responsibility of leading this nation.”

Reflecting on his emergence from the 2023 elections, Tinubu acknowledged the difficulty of both the party primaries and the general election, describing them as tests that prepared him for the demands of office.

“Those experiences strengthened me for the challenges we face today,” he said. “I will not be distracted.”

He urged his supporters to stay committed to what he described as a historic opportunity to address poverty, expand freedom, and deepen democracy in Nigeria. He also stressed the importance of respecting institutions, particularly the judiciary.

“We cannot ignore lawful court orders. We must uphold the judiciary, whether its decisions favour us or not,” he said, adding that adherence to democratic principles and the rule of law remains essential to national unity and stability.

Tinubu called for a shared national vision built on progress and prosperity, saying this forms the core of his Renewed Hope agenda. He also urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to remain united in the face of opposition.

In a pointed remark, the President criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, questioning the outcomes of privatisation efforts carried out during his tenure as Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation.

Tinubu cited examples such as the steel industry in Delta State and the Ajaokuta Steel Complex, arguing that they have yet to deliver expected results.

Concluding his remarks, the President reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises to Nigerians and urged continued mobilisation of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in support of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
