The Osun State House of Assembly on Monday passed the Osun State Local Government Amendment No. 2 Bill 2026, which seeks to amend sections of the state’s local government law, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The bill was approved after its third reading during the Assembly’s plenary session in Osogbo. Earlier, the Committee on Public Accounts, chaired by Mr. Lawal Bamidele, presented its report on the bill along with recommendations for its passage.
Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, called for the adoption of the committee’s report, while the Majority Leader, Mr. Babajide Adewumi, moved the motion for both the report’s adoption and the bill’s third reading. The motion was subsequently passed.
Following the approval, Egbedun confirmed that clean copies of the bill would be forwarded to Governor Ademola Adeleke for assent.
