The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a widely circulated press release suggesting that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, describing the report as false and deliberately misleading.
In a statement on Saturday, the board urged candidates and the public to ignore the notice, emphasizing that it did not originate from JAMB.
“Our attention has been drawn to a malicious press release alleging that the 2026 UTME has been postponed. We wish to state clearly that the notice is fake and did not emanate from the board. Candidates and the public are advised to disregard it. All arrangements for the 2026 UTME remain on course as scheduled,” the statement read.
The board previously announced that the main UTME will take place from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The clarification follows the 2026 UTME mock examination held on Saturday, March 28, which experienced technical issues at some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres. Of the 224,597 registered candidates, 152,586 sat for the mock test across 989 CBT centres nationwide.
JAMB confirmed that over 20 centres affected by technical difficulties have been delisted due to inadequate infrastructure.
