The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially opened its online student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, enabling eligible students to apply for financial assistance.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, NELFUND said the application window will run from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Fund thanked tertiary institutions for their cooperation so far and urged them to continue supporting the process by uploading verified records of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, a requirement for loan eligibility.
To support students awaiting loan disbursements, NELFUND advised institutions to adopt temporary registration measures and show flexibility with fee payment deadlines.
New students can apply using their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in place of a matriculation number.
Institutions yet to commence their 2025/2026 academic session were asked to formally notify NELFUND of their academic calendars to enable better scheduling.
“No student should lose access to education due to financial constraints,” the statement emphasized.
