Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Rivers State Pensions Board.
This was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Inyingi Brown, who stated that the responsibilities of the now-defunct board will be transferred to the Office of the Accountant General of Rivers State.
The statement further directed all former board members to hand over all assets and properties belonging to the board to the Director of Administration in the Pensions Office.
Governor Fubara is expected to appoint a new Pensions Board in due course to oversee pension-related matters in the state.
The dissolved board was among those reconstituted during the previous emergency rule administration. This marks Governor Fubara’s first major administrative decision following the end of the six-month emergency rule.
