NAF airstrikes kill 25 terrorists in Yobe, Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully neutralized more than 25 terrorists during a coordinated night air operation conducted in the Bula area of Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF.

According to Ejodame, the operation took place on September 18, following credible intelligence provided by ground troops. A coordinated force package comprising Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets alongside strike aircraft was deployed to track terrorist movements.

“The ISR platform maintained contact with ground forces, monitoring multiple clusters of fighters north of Banki,” Ejodame explained. “Real-time updates were relayed to ground troops and base operations, enabling a well-coordinated and synchronized response.”

The strike aircraft launched three successive precision attacks on terrorist movement routes and assembly points, effectively eliminating over 25 fighters. Post-strike surveillance confirmed that ground forces held their defensive positions, with no further threats detected in the area.

Ejodame highlighted that the operation underscores the NAF’s unwavering support to ground forces, its determination to deny terrorists freedom of movement, and its commitment to securing Nigeria’s North-East region.

In a related development, Nigerian military troops recently killed three commanders of the ISWAP terrorist group during a foiled ambush in Cross-Kauwa, located in the Lake Chad region. The commanders were identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha, Qaid of Tumbun Mota.

In addition to the commanders, eight other terrorists were neutralized during the operation, which followed a prior detonation of a command improvised explosive device by the terrorists.
