Peter Okoye, one-half of the now-defunct musical duo Psquare, has revealed that he currently earns more as a solo artist than he did during his time with the group, which also included his elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.
Known professionally as Mr P, Peter made the remarks in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, responding to a statement Jude issued last Friday.
“I now earn more on my own as a solo artiste than what I used to earn after splitting three ways as Psquare—plus the so-called manager,” Peter wrote. “I’m talking about both shows and endorsements. It really makes me question, what’s the point of sharing with people who stole from you, betrayed you, and still discriminate against your efforts?”
Describing his solo career as “more rewarding and profitable, both financially and personally,” he added that it has also brought him “peace of mind.”
“I have stopped playing nice and being the mature one while getting disrespected,” he declared.
Peter further accused Jude of badmouthing him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which he says contributed to Jude’s recent arrest and detention.
“These are the exact same words you told the EFCC officials. And you ended up locked up in prison. Of course, you have to come up with another narrative,” Peter said.
He insisted the family has yet to answer the core question: “Despite we are in court! Una never still answers the question, una thief abi una no thief?” (Translation: Are you thieves or not?)
‘They got greedy, wanted to eat alone’
Peter’s post was a direct reply to Jude Okoye’s Instagram statement on Friday, where the former manager accused Peter, singer Cynthia Morgan, and others previously under his management of betrayal and ingratitude.
“They were big, influential, and successful when I was shouldering them with my platform—until they got greedy and wanted to eat alone and so left. Years down the line, they fell off the wagon and became broke, and instead of accepting responsibility… they are pointing fingers at the same person they left,” Jude wrote.
Jude denied any financial wrongdoing and challenged his accusers to specify their allegations, accusing them of fabricating lies to have him jailed.
“They can’t specifically mention what wrongs were done to them, how, and where. They concocted and fabricated lies, attached money laundering and fraud charges to my name to get me jailed… But to their surprise, I sat it out for two months,” Jude stated.
Ongoing legal and family disputes
This renewed clash follows earlier claims by singer Cynthia Morgan, a former Northside signee, who alleged in early June that Peter Okoye distanced himself from her struggles. She said she was hurt after Peter admitted his online support at the time was not personal but aligned with his narrative against Jude.
The latest exchanges also come amid an ongoing legal battle between Jude and the EFCC. Jude was arraigned in February 2025 on multiple counts of money laundering. Court filings accuse Jude and his company, Northside Music Ltd, of dishonestly converting over $1 million in royalties—funds allegedly paid by companies such as Lex Records, Kobalt Music, and Mtech Limited related to Psquare’s music catalogue.
One charge alleges Jude used the proceeds to acquire a luxury property worth ₦850 million in Ikoyi, Lagos. Another claims he converted over $1 million through a Bureau De Change, distributing the funds across multiple accounts to conceal their source. Jude has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty.
The Okoye family’s internal disputes resurfaced publicly in August 2024, when Paul Okoye (Rudeboy) confirmed that Psquare had split permanently. The twin brothers initially parted ways in 2017, briefly reunited in 2021, but have since separated again over unresolved issues concerning royalties and control of their music assets.
