Security operatives rescue 13 kidnapped passengers in Benue

Thirteen Benue Links passengers kidnapped at Eke in Okpokwu Local Government Area, Benue State, have been rescued through a joint operation led by the police and local vigilantes.

The LGA chairman, Adah Inalegwu, confirmed the rescue on Sunday, explaining that coordinated efforts—including pressure on the kidnappers and combing of nearby forests—led to the breakthrough.

Two passengers were rescued on Saturday, and with additional support from youths in neighboring Kogi State, the kidnappers abandoned the remaining eleven victims at Oando village around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Inalegwu credited Governor Hyacinth Alia’s provision of logistics and enhanced security surveillance for the successful operation.

The rescued victims are currently being profiled before being reunited with their families.
