Tinubu appoints new governing councils for three varsities

Two months after dissolving the Governing Council of the University of Abuja and removing its vice-chancellor, President Bola Tinubu has appointed new council members for the institution, as well as for the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU), Awka.

The appointments were announced Tuesday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu Appoints New Governing Council Members for Three Federal Universities.”

The new governing council members for UNIABUJA are Prof. Rosemary Egonmwan (South South), Dr. Adedeji Adefuye (South West), Prof. Sarki Abdulkadir (North West) and Prof. Aminu Dukku (North East).

Tinubu also filled the vacancies in the governing councils of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The members appointed for UNN are: Ogbonna Odo (South East), Muhammad Tahir (North West)

New governing council members for NAU are Dr. Nkem Okeke (South East), Ofoke Ugbala (South East), Dame Yakowa (North West) and Nojeeb Agunbiade (South West).

The changes follow Tinubu’s February dissolution of UNIABUJA’s governing council and the dismissal of Vice-Chancellor Aisha Maikudi over eligibility concerns.
