Rivers State Sole Administrator, Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has suspended all political appointees and officeholders in the state with immediate effect.
A statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator confirmed that the decision was made under the authority granted to Ibas by President Bola Tinubu.
The suspension affects key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, all commissioners, board chairpersons and members, as well as Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.
The statement directed all suspended officials to hand over their duties to the Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). In the absence of a Permanent Secretary, the most senior Director or Head of Administration will take over leadership.
