The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has appointed 16 new directors to oversee key departments within its operations, effective March 3. These appointments span various policy, regulatory, and supervisory roles critical to the bank’s operations.
The newly appointed directors include Jide-Samuel Avbasowamen, who will head the Information Technology Department; Abdullahi Hamisu, appointed as Director of the Banking Services Department; Ojumu Adenike, who will lead the Medical Services Department; and Makinde Olanrewaju, taking charge of the Procurement and Support Services Department.
In the financial sector, Sike Ijeoma has been appointed as Director of the Financial Policy and Regulation Department; Isa-Olatinwo Aisha will head the Consumer Protection Department; and Oboh Victor Ugbem is now Director of the Monetary Policy Department.
Other notable appointments include Nakorji Musa, who will lead the Trade and Exchange Department; Yusuf Rakiya, overseeing the Payments System Supervision Department; Vincent Modesola, appointed to manage the Strategy Management and Innovation Department; and Farouk Muhammad, who will head the Reserve Management Department.
Akinwunmi Olubukola Akinniyi has been appointed Director of the Banking Supervision Department, while Solaja Mohammed-Jamiu will oversee the Other Financial Institutions Supervision Department (OFISD). Hassan Umar is now at the helm of the Development and Finance Institutions Supervision Department, and Adedeji Adetona will lead the Currency Operations and Branch Management Department.
Additionally, Okpanachi Moses will serve as the head of the Statistics Department.
These appointments reflect CBN’s continued commitment to strengthening its leadership and operations in critical areas of its mandate.
