Liverpool will face Paris Saint-Germain in one of the most anticipated matchups in the last 16 of this season’s Champions League, following Friday’s draw.
Liverpool secured their spot by finishing top of the 36-team league phase, earning a direct qualification to this stage. PSG, on the other hand, advanced through a two-legged play-off, where they dominated fellow French side Brest 10-0 on aggregate.
The first leg will take place at the Parc des Princes in Paris on March 4 or 5, with the return leg scheduled for Anfield a week later.
The two sides last met in the 2018/19 Champions League group stage, with PSG winning 2-1 at home after Liverpool triumphed 3-2 in England.
In another thrilling tie, reigning champions Real Madrid will face city rivals Atletico Madrid in a repeat of the 2014 and 2016 finals, both of which were won by Los Blancos.
Bayern Munich will take on fellow German side Bayer Leverkusen, while Arsenal will face PSV Eindhoven. Inter Milan will take on Feyenoord, who recently eliminated AC Milan in the play-offs.
Barcelona will meet Benfica, whom they narrowly defeated 5-4 away in Lisbon during the league phase last month.
Aston Villa will face Club Brugge, having lost to the Belgian side in the league phase earlier this season.
Last season’s runners-up Borussia Dortmund will take on French side Lille.
