Afrobeats star Innocent “2Baba” Idibia shocked fans on social media when he revealed that he and his wife, Annie Idibia, have been separated for some time and have filed for divorce.
The singer shared the news in a video on his Instagram on Sunday, he said “Hello to my beautiful people. This message is both short and long. Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while and have filed for divorce.”
2Baba also mentioned he would release a formal statement soon to clarify the situation and address any misconceptions.
“I will grant a press release soon to share my story—not because it’s anyone’s business, but because I owe it to my people to explain my innocence or offense. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all.”
Shortly after, a post surfaced on his Instagram claiming his account had been hacked, sparking confusion among his followers.
“My Instagram account has been hacked. Efforts are underway to regain control. #onelove!” the post read.
However, in an unexpected turn, another message was shared, refuting the previous claim and confirming that the original post about his separation was true.
“Hey, my people, nobody hacked my account; I said what I said. I come in peace.”
Annie and 2Baba first welcomed their daughter Isabella in 2008. 2Baba proposed to Annie on Valentine’s Day in 2012, and the couple held a private wedding later that year, followed by a white wedding in Dubai in March 2013. Their second child, Olivia, was born in 2014.
