Afrobeats superstar Davido has confirmed that his long-rumoured collaborative album with American R&B star Chris Brown is on track for release in 2027, reigniting excitement around a project that has been teased for nearly two years.
Speaking on the sidelines of his Coachella 2026 performance, Davido told Swift Conversations: “There’s definitely more music. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming out hopefully at the end of next year.”
It marks the first time a tentative release window has been attached to the joint project, signalling clear progress after years of speculation.
Davido has previously described Chris Brown as one of the greatest performers of all time, adding that the pair have already recorded enough material to potentially span multiple projects.
Long-standing collaboration
The partnership between the two stars began in 2019 with the hit single Blow My Mind from Davido’s album A Good Time. That same year, Davido featured on Chris Brown’s Lower Body from the album Indigo.
Their creative chemistry continued with Shopping Spree (2020), featuring Young Thug, on Davido’s A Better Time, followed by Nobody Needs To Know (2022) from Chris Brown’s Breezy.
In 2023, their track Sensational, also featuring Lojay, became a major milestone—earning both artists their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance in 2024.
Most recently, they collaborated on Hmm, featured on Chris Brown’s 2024 album 11:11.
What’s next
Ahead of the joint album, both artists are also preparing individual releases. Davido has hinted that his next project will draw heavily from his African musical roots, while Chris Brown is gearing up for his 12th studio album.
There are also growing expectations that the collaboration could extend beyond music, with talks of a global tour that may span Europe, Africa, and beyond.
Davido is currently touring Europe on his 5ive Alive Tour, as anticipation continues to build around one of Afrobeats and R&B’s most high-profile joint projects.
