Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday, pledged to collaborate closely with the newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, to implement policies that will benefit the people of Lagos.
Sanwo-Olu made the commitment during a courtesy visit by the Speaker and other principal officers of the House to his office in Alausa, Ikeja. The Speaker was welcomed by both the governor and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, just before the weekly State Executive Council meeting commenced.
Following the visit, Sanwo-Olu guided the Speaker and her delegation to the Council Chamber, where both the Speaker and members of the Executive Council reaffirmed their dedication to fostering a strong, productive working relationship.
“During the courtesy visit, the Speaker, her principal officers, and members of the Executive Council reiterated their commitment to maintaining a harmonious working relationship,” Sanwo-Olu said. “This collaboration between the Executive and Legislative arms ensures that Lagos continues to set the standard for excellence in governance.
We will build on the successes of the past and work relentlessly to drive transformational progress across all sectors. Together, we will continue implementing policies and projects that bring our Greater Lagos vision to life,” the governor wrote on X.com.
Meranda was appointed Speaker last Monday following the removal of her predecessor, Mudashiru Obasa, who faced allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement. Meranda presided over her first sitting on Friday, where she established a new leadership structure and formed a seven-member Selection Committee.
