Six dead, 60 injured in Kogi accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of six individuals in a tragic auto crash involving an articulated vehicle on Tuesday evening in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Samuel Oyedeji, the FRSC Sector Commander for Kogi State, confirmed the casualties to journalists and revealed that 60 others sustained varying degrees of injury in the accident.

Oyedeji attributed the crash to over-speeding and urged motorists to strictly adhere to road safety regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He added that FRSC officers, in collaboration with the police and Civil Defence personnel, swiftly transported the injured to Kogi Specialist Hospital and the Federal University Teaching Hospital Lokoja for medical treatment.

The Sector Commander also stated that the bodies of the six victims have been deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital for further handling.
