The national grid has collapsed for the 12th time in 2024.

A tweet from Nigeria’s National Grid official account confirmed the collapse occurred at approximately 2:09 pm on Wednesday. The tweet stated: “The major grid setback has occurred, and restoration efforts are set to begin.”

The development was also confirmed by Jos Disco, which issued a statement to its customers. However, Jos Disco reported that the grid collapsed around 1:33 PM, resulting in a loss of power supply to its feeders.

“We hope to restore normal power supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is fully restored,” said Dr. Friday Elijah, Head of Corporate Communications at Jos Disco.

This incident marks the 12th collapse of the national grid in 2024, following 11 previous failures between January and November.
