NAFDAC seizes ₦300m worth of fake drugs in Lagos raid

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced that its Investigation & Enforcement team uncovered a large cache of counterfeit medicines during a raid at Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State.

In a statement released on Thursday via its X handle, NAFDAC confirmed the operation resulted in the seizure of fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampicloxa 500mg capsules, and packaging materials for Augmentin 625mg capsules.

The agency stated that the facility has been sealed and all illegal products have been removed.

“These counterfeit drugs, valued at over ₦300 million, present serious health risks, such as treatment failure, organ damage, and possible carcinogenic effects due to their unknown and unregulated compositions,” NAFDAC warned.

The suspect involved has been summoned for questioning, and investigations are ongoing. NAFDAC also urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious products or activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.
