President Bola Tinubu will depart for France on Wednesday for a state visit at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the presidency has announced.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed that President Tinubu will be received on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides, a 350-year-old French military museum, and at the Palais de l’Élysée by President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, for a series of welcoming ceremonies and bilateral meetings.
The three-day visit will focus on deepening political, economic, and cultural ties between Nigeria and France, with an emphasis on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. According to the statement, the visit is expected to yield significant benefits for Nigeria.
The two leaders will engage in political and diplomatic talks centered around shared priorities, including finance, solid minerals, trade, investment, and communication. They will also participate in a session hosted by the France-Nigeria Business Council, which fosters private sector involvement in Nigeria’s economic development.
Additionally, First Lady Brigitte Macron and Nigeria’s First Lady will meet to discuss their mutual interest in empowering women, children, and vulnerable populations, particularly through Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
President Tinubu will be accompanied by his wife, as well as other senior government officials. The visit will conclude with a state dinner hosted by President Macron before the Nigerian delegation returns home.
