Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Tuesday presented the proposed budget for the 2025 fiscal year, amounting to N320.11 billion, with a strong emphasis on capital expenditure.
Tagged the “Budget of Transformation and Resilience,” the budget allocates N111.09 billion (34.7%) for recurrent expenditure and N209.02 billion (65.3%) for capital projects, reflecting the state’s commitment to long-term development.
In his address, Governor Yahaya explained, “In line with our efforts to meet the developmental aspirations of the people of Gombe State, I hereby present a proposed budget of N320.11 billion. Of this amount, N111.09 billion is dedicated to recurrent expenditure, while N209.02 billion is earmarked for capital development.”
Key sector allocations
The economic sector received the highest allocation of N138.04 billion, underscoring the government’s focus on boosting economic growth and infrastructure. Other key allocations include N58.87 billion for the social sector, N9.01 billion for general administration, and N3.11 billion for the law and justice sector.
Governor Yahaya also outlined the state’s revenue projections, including N160.27 billion in recurrent revenue and N71.52 billion in capital receipts. The state anticipates a closing balance of N11.68 billion for the 2024 fiscal year.

The governor emphasized that the 2025 budget is designed to address the needs of the people while prioritizing sustainability, equity, and inclusivity. He assured citizens that the budget aligns with local, national, and global economic realities, with a clear focus on fostering growth, providing opportunities, and tackling key challenges.
“This budget reflects our commitment to inclusive development, creating opportunities for all, and driving meaningful transformation across Gombe State,” Governor Yahaya concluded.
