President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) on Senate President Godswill Akpabio; and the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.]
The President announced the conferment during a broadcast to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Anniversary in Abuja on Tuesday.
“As is the tradition, the government will soon announce all the beneficiaries of our national honours for 2024,” Tinubu said.
“The Senate President and the Chief Justice of the Federation have been conferred with the honour of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).”
Tinubu also conferred the honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
The President also awarded the honour of the Commander of the Order of Niger (CON) to the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu.
Tinubu assured Nigerians of better days ahead, saying “the challenges of the moment must always make us believe in ourselves”.
