Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign the Girona winger Sávio this summer, with documents to be signed in the coming days.

Sávio has been a key player for Girona this season as the Catalan club have made an unexpected push for the La Liga title. He has been the subject of bids from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs, reportedly in the region of €30m (£25.7m).

Girona are part-owned by City Football Group (CFG), the holding company that owns Manchester City and several other clubs around the world. Sávio joined another CFG-affiliated club, the French side Troyes, in 2022 before being loaned to PSV Eindhoven and then Girona last summer.

Troyes, who are 15th in Ligue 2, still hold the player’s registration despite Sávio never making an appearance for them. City held internal discussions over a move for Sávio in December, and the transfer has now been agreed.

Sávio has played 23 times for Girona in La Liga this season, scoring five goals and notching seven assists. The 19-year-old will stay at Girona until the summer and is focused on helping the club to make history as they chase the title and a top-four finish.

Having predominantly played as a left-winger in Spain, Sávio is likely to add competition for Jack Grealish, Jérémy Doku and Oscar Bobb in wide areas for Pep Guardiola’s team – although it is possible he could return to Girona on loan for next season.

Nottingham Forest have allowed two players to complete loan moves to Turkey, where the transfer window remains open. The centre-back Joe Worrall has joined Besiktas on loan from Nottingham Forest, with an option to make the deal permanent. Alanyaspor, meanwhile, have agreed a straight loan for the striker Ui-jo Hwang.
