Lagos PDP chairman kidnapped on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos chapter, Philip Aivoji, was kidnapped today Friday, 26 January 2024, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Telegraph gathered that Aivoji was kidnapped while returning from a stakeholders meeting in Oyo state organised by Governors Seyi Makinde and Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.

Hakeem Amode, the Lagos State PDP spokesperson confirmed the kidnap incident in a statement.

“It is disheartening that kidnapping has become a prevalent issue in our country, and the government’s inability to address this menace is deeply concerning,” Amode said.

“The abduction of Aivoji underscores the pressing need for decisive actions from the government and stakeholders to eradicate this menace. Aivoji’s abduction was a violent incident, and his current whereabouts or any communication from the abductors remain unknown.”

He implored the governments of Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos States, alongside security agencies, to expedite efforts and secure his safe return to his family and well-wishers.

He expressed the belief that with increased efforts from security agencies Aivoji could be rescued from his abductors.
