The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suffered a setback in Kaduna State following the resignation of one of its prominent members and governorship aspirants, Muhammad Bello, popularly known as Mainan Zazzau.
Bello formally announced his exit from the party in a resignation letter dated July 21, 2026, addressed to the ADC chairman of Dogarawa Ward in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In the letter, the former Kaduna State Commissioner for Education said he had decided to end his membership of the party with immediate effect. He, however, did not disclose the reason for his resignation.
Bello expressed appreciation to the party leadership and members for the relationship and support he enjoyed during his time with the ADC.
“This is to let you know of my decision to withdraw my membership of the ADC with immediate effect,” the letter stated.
He also thanked party members for what he described as a mutually beneficial association and wished the party success in its future endeavours.
Copies of the resignation letter were sent to the ADC National Chairman, members of the party’s National Working Committee, the Kaduna State Executive Committee and the Sabon Gari Local Government Area chapter of the party.
Bello, who previously served as Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, had been listed among aspirants seeking the ADC governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
As of the time of filing this report, he had not publicly stated the reason for his resignation or revealed his next political move.
