The Office of former President Goodluck Jonathan has disowned a trending Instagram account operating under the handle @goodluck_ebelejonathan, describing it as fake and an attempt at impersonation.
In a statement on Friday, Jonathan’s media aide, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, said the former president does not operate or maintain any personal account on Instagram.
Eze noted that the account has repeatedly changed its identity and misled the public by alternating between posing as a fan page and impersonating the former president.
“May the public take note that the account sometimes presents itself as a fan page and at other times impersonates the former president. The username has been changed 13 times and counting, and we hope that Meta does the needful in due time,” he said.
He warned that the account was designed to mislead unsuspecting members of the public and urged social media users to disregard it.
