Agbu Kefas has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primary election in Taraba State ahead of the 2027 elections.
Kefas secured 166,357 votes to defeat his closest rival, former Minister of State for Transport Muazu Jaji, who polled 4,110 votes.
In his acceptance remarks, Kefas expressed appreciation to party members and residents of Taraba State for the confidence reposed in him, describing the victory as a collective mandate anchored on a shared vision for a prosperous state.
He said the outcome signalled the beginning of a new phase focused on unity, reconciliation and collective responsibility within the party.
According to him, the task ahead is to strengthen the party and provide inclusive leadership that will move Taraba State forward.
“I humbly accept the confidence and trust reposed in me through this victory. This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to all of us,” he said.
He also commended party leaders at all levels, delegates, supporters, women and youth groups for their roles in the process.
Kefas further appreciated his fellow aspirants, noting that their participation had strengthened internal democracy within the party.
“We may have contested as aspirants, but from this moment we move forward as one family with one purpose and one destination,” he added.
He stressed that the time for contest was over, urging all stakeholders to embrace unity and collective action.
“Our task ahead is bigger than any individual ambition; our focus now must be on building a stronger party, a stronger Taraba, and a brighter future for our people,” he said.
Kefas pledged to provide inclusive and fair leadership aimed at promoting the welfare and progress of citizens, adding that the state must now move forward in unity toward shared goals.
