Buhari’s son Yusuf wins APC Reps ticket in Katsina

Yusuf Buhari
Yusuf Buhari, son of Nigeria’s late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has won the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives primary for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.

He secured a landslide victory with 6,386 votes, defeating his opponent, Auwal Daura, who polled 322 votes in the exercise held on Saturday.

The result has drawn attention across the Daura political axis, where the Buhari family continues to hold significant influence.

Party officials who supervised the primary described the process as peaceful and transparent, with delegates drawn from Sandamu, Daura and Mai’adua local government areas participating in the vote.

A supervising official, Ibrahim (surname not provided), said the outcome reflected the preference of party members in the constituency.

“Yusuf Buhari’s overwhelming victory reflects the enduring political influence and goodwill associated with the Buhari name in the constituency and across the state,” he said.

Supporters and party loyalists celebrated the result shortly after it was announced, while Yusuf Buhari had yet to publicly comment on the outcome at the time of filing this report.

With the win, he is expected to represent the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 general elections for the federal constituency seat.

The constituency has 21,855 registered voters, while 6,837 delegates were accredited for the exercise, with 6,708 votes cast.
