Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Davos, Switzerland, to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The forum, which convenes global political and business leaders, will hold from January 19 to 23, 2026.

Shettima arrived in Davos on Sunday from Conakry, Guinea, where he represented President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, on Friday.

In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, the Vice President was received on arrival by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; and officials of the Nigerian Mission in Switzerland.

This year’s meeting marks a milestone for Nigeria, as the Federal Government has, for the first time, established a dedicated sovereign pavilion known as Nigeria House Davos on the Davos Promenade.

The facility, created through a public-private partnership, will serve as a hub for ministerial engagements, investment roundtables and cultural diplomacy throughout the forum. Shettima is expected to formally inaugurate the pavilion during the meeting.

Speaking to journalists ahead of the event, Oduwole said Nigeria would use the platform to present a strong case for investment.

“We will be showcasing four playbooks on President Tinubu’s efforts to re-engineer the Nigerian economy,” she said.

“We will present opportunities in our solid minerals sector, climate-smart agriculture, and the creative and digital industries to investors from all over the world.”

According to the statement, the Vice President will present Nigeria’s 2026 economic outlook to global leaders and participate in plenary sessions on the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence, quantum computing and biotechnology.

Shettima is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of state, chief executives of multinational corporations and leaders of international development finance institutions.

The World Economic Forum annual meeting attracts thousands of participants, including heads of government, business executives, civil society leaders and journalists, and focuses on global economic challenges, technological innovation and climate action.
