2027 election will be smoother for me – Gov Otti

Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti
Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed confidence in securing a second term in office, stating that the 2027 governorship election will be smoother for him than previous contests.

Speaking at the 2025 Aro Day celebration held in Arochukwu Local Government Area of the state, Otti said he is unfazed by the 2027 polls, stressing that the achievements of his administration since assuming office would speak for him.

The governor noted that unlike in 2023, when he campaigned largely on promises, his re-election bid would be anchored on visible accomplishments already being witnessed by the people of the state.

“Just as it happened in 2023, 2027 will be even smoother, I can assure you. Why am I so confident? In 2023, we were selling promises, but now there are tangible achievements we can point to,” Otti said.

He added that while many people are already anxious about the 2027 election, his administration remains focused on governance rather than politicking.

“2027 is still far away, but some people have already started putting themselves under unnecessary pressure. We are not worried about the election because we have a four-year mandate to deliver to our people. We have completed 30 months, and there is still a lot of work ahead,” he stated.

In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, commended Otti’s performance, saying the impact of the governor’s leadership has drawn attention beyond Abia State and Nigeria.

“I congratulate Dr. Otti for the work he has done in Abia. For those of you in the state, nobody needs to tell you. But even outside Abia and outside Nigeria, people have taken note of the remarkable transformation of the past two years.

“I pray that he continues to deliver for the people, and I am proud to be a member of his International Economic Advisory Council,” Sanusi said.
