Akwa Ibom gov approves 13th-month salary for workers

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has approved the payment of a 13th-month “Eno-mber” salary bonus to state workers ahead of the Christmas season.

The governor made the announcement on his social media handles on Monday, directing the state Accountant General to disburse the bonus. He expressed optimism that the early payment would allow workers to celebrate the festive season comfortably.

He wrote, “I have directed the Accountant General to pay the 13th-month Eno-mber salary before Christmas, so our workers can celebrate with ease. Happy New Month.”

The 13th-month salary is an additional payment, often equivalent to one month’s salary, given on top of the regular annual wage. It is commonly awarded at the end of the year to help employees with holiday and festive expenses.

This year’s bonus marks the third consecutive year Governor Eno has announced the payment. In December 2024, he also announced the payment of the ₦80,000 minimum wage to all public servants.
