Airtel Africa announces retirement of Andrew Green, names replacement

Airtel Africa has announced that its Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, Andrew Green, will retire from the Board effective January 29, 2026, according to a disclosure filed with the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

Green’s retirement comes after more than six years of dedicated service, a tenure the Board acknowledged with appreciation.

Tsega Gebreyes will succeed Green as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director following his departure. Gebreyes, appointed to the Board on October 12, 2021, currently serves as Chair of the Remuneration Committee and as a member of the Nominations Committee. She will continue in her current committee roles until January 29, 2026.

In line with these changes, Cynthia Gordon will assume the position of Chair of the Remuneration Committee upon Gebreyes’s transition.

Commenting on Green’s upcoming retirement, Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chair of Airtel Africa, expressed gratitude for his service, describing him as “a leader whose vision, integrity, and deep industry knowledge have made a lasting impact on the company.”
