Tinubu returns to Abuja after 10-day visit to Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja on Monday following a 10-day working visit to Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

His return was confirmed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

During his stay in Lagos, President Tinubu engaged with several key stakeholders and investors, including Bayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, former Chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat, now Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.

He also hosted the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, who was accompanied by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, and other sector leaders. Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing Nigeria’s maritime industry as a strategic alternative to fossil fuel dependency.

Prior to arriving in Lagos on Friday, September 27, the President attended the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

While in Lagos, Tinubu also marked Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day. He delivered the national broadcast from the State House, Dodan Barracks, and commissioned the newly renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, where he urged Nigerians to promote a positive national image.

On the eve of Independence Day, the President visited Imo State, where he commissioned projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and unveiled a book authored by the governor chronicling 10 years of APC governance in Nigeria.

On Saturday, October 4, President Tinubu travelled to Jos, Plateau State, to attend the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, Chairman of the APC in the state. While paying tribute to the late matriarch, Tinubu assured Christian communities in northern Nigeria of his government’s unwavering commitment to fairness and religious harmony.
