National Assembly unseals Senator Natasha’s office

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan
The National Assembly has officially unsealed the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, marking a potential step toward her return to legislative duties. Her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was reopened on Tuesday by the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji.

“I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office of Senator Natasha Akpoti,” Adedeji declared before unlocking the door, ending a six-month closure.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended in March 2025 for alleged misconduct after protesting the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20. The Senate imposed a six-month suspension, barring her from all activities of the 10th Senate.

Although the suspension formally ended in September 2025, the Senator has not yet been able to resume her legislative duties due to ongoing legal disputes and resistance from Senate leadership.

Last week, she wrote to the upper chamber, notifying them of her intent to return following the completion of her suspension. However, her request was rejected by the National Assembly.

With the unsealing of her office, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s return to the Red Chamber could be imminent, pending further developments. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene on October 7, 2025.
