A Polish real estate and hotel group is taking an unusual approach to the country’s declining birth rate, by offering financial incentives and perks to couples who conceive children during their stay at its properties.
The Arche Group, which owns 23 hotels and multiple residential developments across Poland, announced the initiative on its website, expressing concern over the country’s ongoing demographic crisis. Poland has seen a continuous decline in births for the past 12 years, with 2024 marking 157,000 more deaths than births, according to the National Statistics Office (GUS).
As part of its newly launched “Arche Generations” program, the company promises rewards for clients who can prove their child was conceived during a stay at one of its hotels. These rewards include free “special events”, such as baptisms or other celebrations, hosted at Arche venues.
In addition, couples who purchase a home through the Arche Group are eligible to receive a 10,000 zloty ($2,754) bonus if they have a child after the purchase.
The program is currently open to heterosexual couples, with at least one partner required to be an adult Polish citizen residing in Poland. Arche employees who have children are also eligible for similar incentives.
The company frames the initiative as a patriotic contribution to reversing Poland’s shrinking population, which stood at approximately 37.4 million as of late June—down by one million compared to 2015.
While the idea has raised eyebrows, Arche says the goal is simple: to “support the development of Polish families” and draw attention to a demographic trend that, if left unchecked, could have serious long-term consequences for the nation’s economy and social systems.
