The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cast his ballot in the Rivers State local government elections.
Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers State, voted at 11:15 a.m. at Rumepirikom, Ward 9, Unit 007, in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area—an area where he previously served as chairman for two terms.
Having begun his political career as a local government chairman in 1999, Wike later ascended to the governorship, serving as Rivers State’s governor from 2015 to 2023.
After casting his vote, Wike praised the peaceful conduct of the election and dismissed concerns over the absence of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the process.
