Global pop icon Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce have announced their engagement, setting the stage for what could be one of the most talked-about celebrity weddings in recent years.

The couple shared the news on Tuesday through a joint post on Instagram, featuring photos of Kelce proposing in a flower-filled garden, followed by Swift flashing a large diamond ring.

“Your English teacher and gym teacher are getting married,” the couple joked in the caption, playing on their public personas.

Both aged 35, Swift and Kelce made their relationship public in 2023 and have since become a mainstay in pop culture headlines. They’ve been frequently spotted together, at Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour concerts and on the sidelines of Kelce’s games with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Swift’s Eras Tour, which grossed over $2 billion, concluded last year after 149 three-hour performances worldwide. The tour not only set box office records but also turned stadiums into pilgrimage sites for millions of fans, some of whom sang along from outside after failing to secure tickets.

Her dedicated fanbase, known as Swifties, is now eagerly awaiting her next album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” scheduled for release on October 3. The announcement was made earlier this month on an episode of “New Heights,” the podcast Kelce co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce, a former NFL player.

Swift’s previous album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” released in April 2024, was met with critical and commercial success. Known for her emotionally resonant songwriting, often inspired by past relationships, Swift’s romance with Kelce appears to have defied the usual narrative.

Their relationship has deepened despite intense public scrutiny and busy careers, making them one of the most high-profile couples in entertainment and sports today.

Not without controversy, Swift recently made political headlines after endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Her endorsement drew sharp criticism from former President Donald Trump, who posted on social media: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT.”

Neither Swift nor Kelce has responded publicly to Trump’s remarks.

With an engagement now confirmed and a new album on the horizon, 2025 is shaping up to be another landmark year for the 14-time Grammy winner—and for the couple now affectionately known by fans as “Swelce.”
