Mbappe withdraws harassment complaint against PSG

Real Madrid’s French forward #09 Kylian Mbappe.
Kylian Mbappé has formally withdrawn his complaint of moral harassment against his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of his lawyers confirmed to AFP on Monday.

“We are withdrawing our civil action,” said Pierre-Olivier Sur, Mbappé’s legal representative, just days before the Club World Cup semi-final between Real Madrid and PSG on Wednesday.

The Paris prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation last month after Mbappé filed a complaint regarding his treatment by PSG at the start of the 2023–24 season. The France captain alleged he was deliberately sidelined and forced to train with players the club was trying to offload after he declined to sign a contract extension.

Mbappé was also excluded from PSG’s pre-season tour of Asia in 2023 and missed the team’s opening league fixture, but was later reintegrated into the squad following talks with club management.

The practice of isolating players who refuse contract extensions has drawn criticism across French football and led the players’ union to file a separate complaint last year.

Mbappé, 26, joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 after seven seasons with PSG, where he scored 256 goals in 308 appearances. Notably, PSG won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history following his departure.

Despite withdrawing the harassment claim, Mbappé remains in a legal dispute with PSG over €55 million ($64.4 million) in alleged unpaid wages and bonuses.
