Isa Wabi, the former chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, has been killed in a violent attack allegedly carried out by acquaintances of his son.

According to a statement from the Bauchi State Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday at Wabi’s home in the Fadaman Mada area, behind the Government Girls’ Secondary School in Bauchi.

Responding to a distress call from a concerned resident, police found Wabi in critical condition, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his neck. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigations suggest the attack was carried out by two individuals, Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo), both acquaintances of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed. The suspects allegedly broke into the victim’s home around 3 am with the intent to assault him.

In a twist, one of the suspects, Malami, was found unconscious at the scene, apparently as a result of a retaliatory act. He was taken to the hospital but was later declared dead.

Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, the victim’s son, has been taken into custody for questioning. Police say he has been cooperative and is providing important information in the ongoing investigation.

The Bauchi State Police Command assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and bring all responsible parties to justice.

In the wake of the attack, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu visited Wabi’s family to offer condolences and assured them of a thorough and discreet investigation.
